Thinking of becoming a foster parent? Do you have room in your heart and home for one more child?
Livingston County Catholic Charities (LCCC) holds a foster parent orientation and informational meeting the 3rd Monday of each month for persons interested in learning more about foster care.

LCCC is seeking to increase the number of available homes in Livingston County to serve the children entering foster care. We need more homes to keep these children safe, cared for and in their community.
Thanks to each of you, LCCC was able to provide a food box, hygiene and cleaning products, paper products, a Christmas gift and the gift of love and remembrance this Christmas season to 161 low income and home bound county seniors! God Bless!

Drop-In Substance Abuse Engagement Group
There IS Help!
Livingston County Catholic Charities (LCCC) offers an Engagement Group for people struggling with substance use/abuse. The group is free and open to everyone! Group days are Monday (6p-7:30p), Wednesday (10:30a-12p) and Fridays (10a-11:30a) – come to one, come to all each week!
An LCCC Substance Abuse Coordinator carries a cell phone 24hrs a day for assistance: 517-375-1652. Additionally, LCCC offers outpatient services with therapists trained and certified in substance use/addiction treatment.
Community Mental Health (800-615-1245) offers the ACCESS program and provides screenings for substance abuse services. Anyone who would like more information, please call LCCC at 517-545-5944 and ask for the Clinical Director or the Substance Abuse Coordinator.
Across the nation – including in the state of Michigan – genetic testing company representatives are offering “free” genetic tests to Medicare beneficiaries. These tests can also be referred to as DNA screenings, cancer screenings, and hereditary testing, to name a few. The representatives go to senior centers, senior housing, health fairs, and even parking lots to convince people to let them take a cheek swab for testing. They advertise on TV and online. They promise that the results will help recipients avoid diseases or find the right medications. All they ask for in return is the person’s Medicare number. Click the link below to read more.
